2020 Green Infrastructure Forum:
Advancing Stormwater Management
at the Atlanta University Center Community

Virtual Conference held December 10, 2020 from 5 to 7:30pm

This virtual conference highlighted the progress of Atlanta University Center (AUC) colleges and universities in advancing green stormwater management practices that prevent negative flooding impacts to nearby low-lying communities while promoting urban resilience. The keynote speaker was Spelman College President, Mary Schmidt Campbell. Other speakers were:
The benefits of green stormwater infrastructure including its ability to reduce neighborhood public health risks, create and protect public and private greenspaces, conserve water, and save money were discussed and showcased. Additionally, the session provided an update on AUC progress toward the implementation of green stormwater management at the Atlanta University Center, student and faculty support of these initiatives as well as local community activities in support of green infrastructure. The session hoped to underscore the power of leveraging relationships and partnerships to successfully obtain funding and build planned projects. The agenda for the event can be found here.

This event was convened by ECO-Action in partnership with the Atlanta University Center Neighborhood Association (AUCNA), Atlanta University Center Consortium (AUCC), Atlanta Watershed Learning Network (AWLN), Metro Atlanta Urban Watershed Institute (MAUWI) Spelman College, Environmental Studies program, West Atlanta Watershed Alliance (WAWA), and the Proctor Creek Stewardship Council (PCSC).
