Mayor Dickens Visits Georgia Hill Community Center For Meet & Greet

Atlanta Mayor Andre Dickens visited the Georgia Hill Neighborhood Center on Friday, May 22, alongside members of his staff for a Meet & Greet with ECO-Action and fellow community organizations housed within the facility. The visit provided an opportunity for organizations serving Atlanta residents to engage directly with the Mayor and discuss the City’s ongoing Moving Atlanta Forward initiatives and broader efforts to strengthen neighborhoods across Atlanta. During the gathering, Mayor Dickens spoke about his vision for creating greater equity and opportunity throughout the city, emphasizing the importance of investing in historically underserved communities. “My goal is to end Atlanta’s tale of two cities,” Mayor Dickens said. “That means unraveling a legacy of policy decisions that were made decades ago. What we know for sure is that the city will never reach its full potential if we continue on the same path that it has been on with the North and the South and the have and have nots, and investments that are lopsided."

"There is no social justice without environmental justice"

The Blackout Atlanta Challenge was founded on a single truth: emergencies don't discriminate, but their impact often does. Too many Atlanta families — especially in under-resourced neighborhoods — are left unprepared when disaster strikes. We created a challenge-based movement that makes emergency preparedness exciting, accessible, and deeply community-rooted. Because when the lights go out, Atlanta stands together.

ECO-Action has assisted 140+ community-based organizations in 95 of the 159 Georgia counties.

Who We Are

ECO-Action exists to promote a safe and healthy environment by helping Georgia communities organize to address environmental health hazards and pollution. ECO-Action serves the general population, but we focus on vulnerable, low-income communities and communities of color. Our objective is to empower communities to become resilient – better able to respond to environmental threats such as global warming and move forward to improve their environmental, social and economic health and wellbeing. ECO-Action believes that all communities have the right to clean air, water land and energy, to know about and take action against environmental hazards, and to fully participate in the decisions that affect their lives.

Our Mission

Provide organizing and technical assistance so that Georgia low-wealth communities and communities of color can empower themselves to eliminate air, land, and water pollution.

Our Vision

Our vision is a Georgia where communities enjoy clean and safe air, water, land, and energy, and have the power to impact decisions affecting their lives. This vision embodies the following:

50 years of forging solutions that help people and nature prosper.
