From an early age, my passion for construction and community upliftment was evident. At the tender age of three, I delved into the world of building blocks and architectural sketches, laying the groundwork for a lifelong journey of creativity and service. Growing up in a neighborhood often overlooked but brimming with untapped potential, I was inspired to explore avenues of sustainable living and residential energy efficiency.
During my academic years at Norfolk State University, a transformative internship with South Hampton Roads Habitat for Humanity introduced me to the transformative power of LEED and green building initiatives. This experience solidified my dedication to environmental stewardship and set me on a trajectory towards specializing in residential energy efficiency and building science, culminating in the attainment of my Master’s Degree from Virginia Tech.
Navigating the challenges of a post-graduation landscape marred by economic recession, I seized opportunities to blend my commitment to service with my passion for construction. Serving as an Assistant House Leader with Americorps and Atlanta Habitat for Humanity, I honed my skills and deepened my understanding of sustainable practices.
Elevating my expertise, I transitioned to the role of a Technical Adviser within the esteemed EarthCraft program, where I gained invaluable insights and forged connections within the green building community. Armed with this wealth of experience, I ventured into entrepreneurship, founding my own company Jones Sustainable Solutions Group dedicated to promoting sustainable living practices.
Today, as a certified HERS Rater (Home Energy Rating System), I continue to champion environmentally conscious solutions while providing tangible pathways towards a greener, more resilient future. I currently sit on the Board for Eco Action as well asCity of Atlanta Clean Energy Advisory.
