The AWLN youth summer program is a six-week summer program that provides youth with a paid internship. Through our youth internship program at Eco-Action. Our youth interns have the opportunity to receive hands-on experience at a community, social justice or green organization in various areas like environmental health, sustainability, leadership, finances, and nutrition. This program offers a unique opportunity to dive deep into the roots of what makes our environment so unique and how many ways we can improve the areas around us by making simple and small changes.
Position Summary:
Program Coordinators are responsible for planning, coordinating, developing, and overseeing the student interns for the Atlanta Watershed Learning Network Youth Summer Program. The position collaborates with the Program Manager, partner worksites, and the ECO-Action staff. The role will be supervised and evaluated by the Program Manager.
Responsibilities
- Assisting with day-to-day activities of the program by implementing and organizing activities of the program.
- Organizationally track and document the program sessions with sign-in sheets, statements of receipts, student information, photos, timesheets, and other means appropriate for the evaluation of the activities and program.
- Assist the Program Manager with the logistics of the summer program by maintaining the planned schedule.
- Develop and implement strategies for the flow of breakfast and lunch deliveries.
- Assist in the creation of print, digital, and social media content.
- Identify, cultivate, facilitate, and organize further development of soft skills, leadership, social justice, and environmental justice.
- Generate marketing communications, newsletters, and social media content.
- Ability to communicate effectively with student interns, staff, partnering organizations, and new businesses.
Qualifications
- Demonstrate excellence in development and communication skills.
- Excellent written and verbal communications skills.
- Ability to manage timelines and daily expectations.
- Capacity to manage multiple projects simultaneously.
- Excellent computer skills. Regular use of Word, Excel, and Outlook.
- Experience with newsletter production.
- Interest in and commitment to social justice, environmental/climate justice, equitable and sustainable infrastructural development; safe and healthy communities.
- Ability to work well with diverse individuals and balance a variety of needs.
Additional Requirements (but not required)
- At least 1-2 experience with youth
- Experience with and/or substantial understanding of community environmental and social injustices
Travel: All positions require reliable access to a vehicle and a valid driver’s license and insurance, and a willingness to travel lightly.
Pay: $25 per hour.
